Easter weekend and we’re back in semi-lockdown!
Our 7pm to 6am curfew continues and we now must travel no further than 10kms from home without a good reason and a completed attestation form. Having said that it really isn’t going to effect us much at all, other than restricting any social gatherings. Our regular shopping for provisions is approx. 5kms away as is the local garage. The boulangerie is a 2km cycle ride and there is no restriction on exercising so local walks and cycles will still take place.
With the garden bursting into colour and a few projects on the go , there’s no real need to go out the gate😊
The irises/lilies??? are coming out in the front and back garden. OK so I’m still learning about gardening…………!!
The tulips are in full bloom and we just love the “alizarin crimson” ones.
The blossom and leaves are appearing on the fruit trees.
There are also a couple of “building “ projects on the go. Chris has repaired a section of wall which came down after some over enthusiastic ivy removal!
Whilst I have been dry stone walling 😊 Well putting a stone border around the edge of the “summer kitchen” and clothes drying area.
Tomorrow is pool opening day! The pool has been covered and pump removed over winter, so heaven knows how it will look when the covers come off. We decided to get the professionals in to do this for us and then hopefully we can manage the cleaning and year round maintenance ourselves from then on?! Meanwhile the “pool boy” set to with the Karcher to clean the surrounding tiles.
However after a spell of glorious sunshine and warm weather, the forecast tomorrow is for temperatures in single figures with snow in some areas, so we could be revealing an ice rink!!!
You’ve certainly got a lot of colour coming into the garden, probably going to take a fair bit of work to keep on top of it all. Don’t know what Guyader Stonemasons here in Jersey would make of the repair, but not bad for a novice…. though the lower coarse seems to have sagged a little…. at least it will be a distinctive feature for centuries to come.
All to do with finding the right sized shaped stones Dave😊 I reckon he did a good job and definitely improved with practice!
Garden looks lovely….and oh the pool boy !
Yes, looking forward to Summer Maureen. Hoping the pool gets plenty of use😊
Your garden is looking beautiful and very colourful. The iris’s look lovely. We have a number of beautiful Iris’s some bought from an art friend in Dargo who grows them professionally
Koalas continue to give us a lot of pleasure as we watch the baby growing & gaining confidence & independence.
Our weather has been lovely these past four days… no wind that makes a big difference. The gale force winds are strong & do so much damage.
Thanks Judy, so they are irises😜Glad to hear life is good and you’re still enjoying the island xx
It’s looing great Sue!
It’s a beautiful garden Rob, we’ve just got to learn to look after it😊
The garden looks terrific Sue. You are now coming into the lovely part of the year and so am sure you will really enjoy it all. We are both well here and I am looking for my new dogs now as feel ready to get them. I think we might get two puppies – possibly a pointer and a border collie!!! Weather has been perfect and now getting the garden ready for winter. I am sure you are loving where you are – it just looks so good. I hope it is not that long before we can travel again and then we can see it for ourselves. Take good care of yourselves.
Hi Liz and Jim, delighted to hear that you’re looking to get some more 4 legged friends Liz. A border collie puppy- you’re brave!!😊
Such sad news yesterday about Prince Philip, pity he didn’t get to his “century”.
Take care xx
Hi Sue and Chris, Love the garden, especially the tulips. I used to love tulip time in Kilmore. Alas they wouldn’t love our salty warm weather here. (although we do). And yes, the pool boy looks particularly spiffy. We had lovely easter with all the family, the usual sigh of relief when they left with a minimum of room here to entertain at the moment. Am off to my garden now, lots of weeding to do after lots of rain, particularly that horrid couch grass.
Happy gardening xx
Hope the gardening went well Robby, I just love ours here and so look forward to the day you can visit and give me some advice on my potager! 😊x
