Just into July and our plans are beginning to take shape.

A 4 month delay but hey we were lucky enough to spend that time with family, see the seasons change in England and enjoy some quiet time in the Gloucestershire countryside, unwinding from the frenetic time at the start of the year.

“Parsley” the Peugeot has joined the family after we upgraded “Boris” who did such a good job carting us around last year.

And so it was that on the 5th July with restrictions lifted we headed east for our first experience travelling through the Channel Tunnel. Personally the whole idea of being locked in a tin tube travelling beneath the sea, didn’t appeal that much! But we knew that we would be “safe” isolated in our little home on wheels.

On the sea or under it????
Ratfink is just a little excited to be heading home!
The tin tube.

The whole Le Tunnel experience was painless and quick 35 minutes! Just time to sit down to a salad lunch in the van, wash up and we were in Calais, amazing and considering the high seas due to days of wind – a much better option.

It’s a bit of a tradition to head to Honfleur once on French soil, so it was right turn out of the terminal and we were on our way. Rather than cross either of the bridges at Le Havre we chose a “cruise” across the Seine on a great little (free) car ferry.

Waiting to load

Both under and over the water today before stopping the night at one of our very favourite French places to visit.

All aboard
