This week Summer has finally arrived, with a canicule (heat wave) warning for the majority of France. Temperatures in our little area likely to get to 39 degrees mid week before a break and a band of storms blowing through – just in time for our next visitors ☹️

Well we chose this area for it’s record of sunshine hours so no complaints after a cool start to the summer months, although our sympathies are with those in the far South where wildfire reports and images brought back memories of Australia.

So as mentioned previously the holiday month of August sees a mass of fetes and festivities. One of which is the annual Festi’Hippo at nearby Luxe not to be missed after our introduction to the night last year! Nowt to do with hippos, but an evening of music and harness racing. Last year we thought would be hard to beat with a brilliant Abba revival band. But this year was every bit as good as the large crowd sang along to “Not The Rolling Stones”. Heaps of fun as we sat and enjoyed our picnic apero, enjoying all the old favourites.

A bit of psychedelic 70s imagery on the screen and we were into it!

(Never sure if my attempts at video upload that well, but had to capture some of the atmosphere, so click below)

The next outing was to a 3 day art festival at Échallat, where painters, potters and sculptors display their works throughout the closed off laneways of the little village. It was wonderful and so varied.

Sculptors working in one of the beautiful old courtyards.

Through to a gallery in another courtyard

Just loved the seat this young artist sits on.

And finally for this month, as the soon to be harvested sunflowers dip their heads, I leave you with a smiling sunflower 🌻
